Kinesis launches a new ergonomic keyboard - at the lowest price ever.
June 14, 1996, Bothell, Wash. --
Kinesis Corporation, the leading developer of ergonomic computer
keyboards and keyboard accessories, announces the release of a
low priced ergonomic keyboard with a retail list price of US
$225. The new Kinesis Essential ergonomic computer
keyboard gives users ergonomic and productivity benefits which
have not previously been available at this price.
The Kinesis Essential keyboard is a trimmed-down
version of the company's flagship Kinesis Model 130 ergonomic
keyboard. According to company President, William Hargreaves,
Ph.D., "We have created a keyboard which incorporates the
core ergonomic features that set Kinesis products apart from
other ergonomic keyboards, and have brought it to market at a
much more affordable price." In order to account for the
lower price, key remapping and macro programming features have
been omitted in the Kinesis Essential keyboard. However,
an upgrade option will be available for users who decide they
want on-board programmability at a later time.
"The Kinesis Essential keyboard is targeted for
the broad market of home office and business computer users who
want more comfort and productivity, but who do not need the extra
flexibility afforded by on-board programmability. The Kinesis
Essential's ergonomic design features also provide valuable
protection against known risk factors associated with carpal
tunnel syndrome and tendinitis," says Dr. Hargreaves.
Specific risk factors which Kinesis keyboards minimize include
ulnar deviation, wrist extension, radial deviation, pronation,
and excessive force -- common risks which affect keyboard users.
"Our company was built on the premise of creating the
highest quality ergonomic solutions for today's computer needs. I
am really gratified when our customers tell us how they have
benefitted from using Kinesis Keyboards, and how our products
have saved careers and increased productivity," says Dr.
Hargreaves.
Kinesis keyboards have received national recognition for their
ease of use and protection against ergonomic risks. Findings from
a major study, conducted by Global Ergonomic Technologies
laboratories, showed that Kinesis keyboards provide a 23% - 65%
reduction in risk postures over traditional-style keyboards.
Historically, Kinesis keyboards have outperformed all other
keyboards in controlled studies.
All Kinesis keyboards offer an embedded ergonomic 10-key pad
for number intensive users. When the 10-key pad is used with an
optional foot-switch, benefits include increased productivity and
comfort. Kinesis keyboards can operate on Macintosh and
Sun platforms via an optional interface device. The Kinesis
flagship model 130 keyboard offers full on-board programmability
and has been available since December 1995 for a retail price of
US $275. Kinesis' patented keyboard design has been in production
since 1992.
Kinesis Corporation is a privately held company headquartered
in Bothell, Washington. The company was founded in 1991 to
develop ergonomic computer products which improve health, comfort
and productivity for computer users.
