Kinesis launches high-end, state of the art ergonomic keyboard,
"The Professional", for intensive computer users!
September 3, Bothell, Wash. --
With the release of the Professional model ergonomic
keyboard, Kinesis Corporation solidifies its role as the leading
developer of highly effective ergonomic keyboards. Expanded
on-board programmability features are bundled with a foot switch
and Kinesis' new Keyware graphical keyboard maintenance software.
As with the other Kinesis keyboard models, customers receive a 60
day money back guarantee. The Professional model is ideal
for intensive computer users seeking the maximum comfort and
productivity.
Kinesis Corporation invested almost two years in
research and development before introducing the first QWERTY
ergonomic keyboard late in 1992. The Professional is based
on the Model 130 platform, Kinesis' fourth major model
which was released November of 1995. Kinesis also recently
launched The Essential as its entry-level,
non-programmable keyboard targeting retail markets. With the Model
130 and the two recent derivatives, Kinesis' original design
has been refined to offer a product family serving all levels of
computer users. Each model offers an optimal combination of
geometric and functional features for maximum comfort and
productivity.
The Professional keyboard has twice the on-board
memory of the standard Kinesis programmable keyboard (Model
130), and comes bundled with a foot switch. Also included is
a new feature which allows users to select from three different
configurations setting the size and number of macros which can be
stored. As with all programmable Kinesis keyboards, there is no
limit to the number of keys which may be moved or duplicated with
remapping. Another new feature allows users to set one or more
modifier keys as sticky, reducing the effort required to create
keystroke combinations, avoiding stress on the user's hand. A
special windows-compatible utility program, Kinesis Keyware, was
developed just for the Professional keyboard and offers on
screen programmability plus additional programmable features.
Keyware also allows users to save custom keyboard layouts on disk
and download them later. The powerful features and flexibility of
the Professional keyboard are unmatched by any other
product.
The patented Kinesis keyboard design provides
thumbs-up operation for comfortable forearms. The true-split,
concave key wells keep the wrists and arms straight in front of
the user, with easier reaches for the keys and less strain on
shoulders and backs. Editing keys are moved from the pinkies to
the thumbs and the numeric keypad is embedded, where it is
conveniently activated with a foot switch. The compact,
symmetrical design allows the keyboard to be centered in any
workstation with plenty of room for a pointing device to the side
or positioned in the vacant middle section of the keyboard.
"With the addition of the Kinesis Professional
keyboard, we can now meet the needs of all levels of computer
users with a cost-effective product offering just the features
they need," reports William R. Hargreaves, Ph.D., President
and CEO of Kinesis Corporation. "Our customers appreciate
the thoughtful feature sets and long warrantees of our
made-in-USA products. Once a computer user buys a Kinesis
keyboard for work, he or she usually buys one later for
home."
According to Vice President Caprice Leinonen,
"With the introduction of two new keyboard models over the
past few months, we are seeing increased demand across our
product line. Many customers are using our keyboards with
interfaces supporting Macintosh® or Sun® platforms.
Dvorak-layout keyboards are also increasingly popular. Basically,
computer users are looking for more value from their
keyboards."
