Creating Macros (Multi-Key Programming)

Creating a macro.
Simple (single-trigger) macro. When you enter Program Macro mode by pressing Progrm + F11, the keyboard lights are flashing quickly waiting for you to set which key or keys will trigger the macro. While the lights are flashing fast, you press and release any single key (except Shift, Ctrl, or Alt).   The lights will begin to flash slowly, waiting for your to enter the macro contents--the key that you want to "play" when you trigger the macro. When you are done entering your macro contents,  hold the Progrm key firmly and tap F11; the lights should immediately stop flashing.

Important note about terminating "program macro mode": When you attempt to terminate macro programming, the lights should stop flashing on the first try when you press Progrm + F11. If they don't,  you may have added F11 to the end of your macro. In the latter case, you will need to reprogram your macro.

Combination keys used to trigger macro. Keyboard macros may be triggered by a letter combined with any combination of Ctrl, Alt, and/or Shift.

Using the keypad key within a macro.
Your macro can include turning on and off the keypad (embedded) layer. When programming the macro, be sure to use the keypad button rather than the foot switch to avoid possible problems when playing back the macro.

Remapping a key which triggers a macro.
Special care is required when combining remapping and macros on the same keys. If you are not careful, a macro will be assigned to both the original and remapped locations of a key action. The general rule is to perform any remapping first before programming macros. If you have problems, contact Kinesis technical support.
